My students are showing up as 'Unknown'

Learn how to solve when your students are showing up as unknown on your class list

Students sometimes show up as 'Unknown' on class lists due to one of two reasons.


Reason 1 - If your school has purchased Premium

When schools purchase Premium for their students, we use student emails to create accounts. Students will show up as <Unknown> on their teachers' class lists until the student enters their first and last name in the settings on their account.

To fix this, please ask your students to update their name in their personal settings.


Reason 2 - Account error

Sometimes an error occurs on the student's account. This affects about 1 in 10,000 new accounts on Seneca.

To fix this, please open the chat in the bottom corner of this screen or reach out to learnmore@seneca.io and let our team know the email address of the student. Our friendly team will then be able to fix this for you.
