Scanning the QR code
At the start of some exam question sessions, you may be prompted to complete the session on mobile. This is because the answers are more easily entered by photographing written work than by typing them, for example, maths equations. To switch to your mobile, you need to scan the QR code shown on screen with your mobile.
Once the camera on your mobile has scanned the QR code, you mobile will attempt to open the Seneca app. If you do not have the Seneca mobile app installed, then it will open a new window in your default browser e.g. Safari. It will then attempt to log in with the same account as your desktop session. If you are already logged in with this account on the mobile app or browser, you will automatically be taken into the exam question session. If you are not logged in with this account, you will be taken to the login page and prompted to log in with the same account as your desktop session.
Login issues
It is important that when you are prompted to log in, you do so with the same account as you were using in your desktop session. If you are having trouble logging in with this account, please refer to this help article. When using single-sign-on in a browser, you may encounter an error like the one below:
If you see this, try scanning the QR code again, and it should work on the second try. To avoid this issue entirely, we recommend downloading the Seneca mobile app. Refer to this help article to find out how to download it.
Progressing through the exam questions
If you initially opted to continue on desktop and now wish to switch to mobile, you can do so at any point in the session. To do this, click the options menu in the top right and choose 'Hand off to mobile'; this will present you with the QR code. You will be taken to the same question, and the questions you already answered on desktop will be marked as complete.
As you progress through the session on mobile, the desktop session will not be synced; it will remain as you left it. Upon completing the mobile session, if you quit the session on desktop and refresh the page, you will see that the exam question session will be marked as complete.
