A smarter Maths keyboard

We've completely rebuilt the Maths keyboard on Seneca from the ground up. The new keyboard is smaller, cleaner and adapts to show only the keys relevant to the question you're working on so you spend less time hunting for the right symbol and more time focusing on the maths.

The redesigned keyboard is part of our Senekit design system, giving it a more polished, consistent look and feel across the platform.

What's new

  • Context sensitive keys: The keyboard automatically shows a focused selection of keys that are relevant to the specific question you're answering no more scrolling through symbols you don't need.

  • Desktop toggle: On desktop, the keyboard stays neatly hidden and can be opened with a toggle whenever you need it, keeping your screen free of distractions.

  • Rebuilt for reliability: The keyboard has been rewritten from scratch, so it should be faster and more dependable than before.

How it works

  1. Open any Maths session on Seneca (desktop or mobile).

  2. When you reach a question that requires typing a maths answer, the keyboard will appear - showing only the keys you need for that question.

  3. On desktop: look for the keyboard toggle to open or close it as needed.

  4. On mobile: the keyboard appears automatically at the bottom of the screen.

Things to know

  • The new keyboard is available across all Maths sessions on Seneca.

  • The set of keys shown will vary depending on the type of question - this is intentional and helps keep things focused.

  • If you notice any keys missing that you'd expect to see, please get in touch with our support team.
